  4. I. System Requirements.
  5.  
  6. EARTHSIGE II requires Windows 95 and Direct Draw (DirectX) 
  7. to run.
  8.  
  9. This demo is optimized for performance on a Pentium based 
  10. machine with at least 16 megabytes of RAM. The minimum 
  11. supported machine is a 486/66MHz with Localbus, SVGA, mouse,
  12. and eight megabytes of RAM. 
  13.  
  14. If you are running this demo on a non-pentium machine, you 
  15. may find better results if you run in 320X200 resolution. 
  16. See the section on "Launching the Demo" for further 
  17. information.

  22. II. Installation
  23.  
  24. For this demo to work you MUST first decompress the files. 
  25. Copy the ES2DEMO.EXE program to an empty directory on
  26. your hard disk and type
  27.     
  28.     ES2DEMO -d
  29.  
  30. in a DOS box and press the Enter key.  
  31.  
  32. Make sure to include the -d switch!

  37. III. Notes about Direct Draw
  38.  
  39. If your machine does not have the Direct Draw (DirectX) drivers
  40. installed, you will need to download them seperately. The 
  41. EARTHSIEGE 2 demo will not run without DirectX installed.  
  42.  
  43. The demo will launch in a window by default. You can click 
  44. on the maximize button inside the upper right hand corner of
  45. the game window to switch to full screen mode. Not all video 
  46. cards support direct draw's full screen mode. If you experience
  47. problems in full screen mode, press the "Alt" and "Enter" keys 
  48. at the same time to switch back to windowed mode.

  53. IV. Launching the demo
  54.  
  55. To run the demo, either type "ES" in a DOS box, or double-
  56. click on the ES icon in Explorer.
  57.  
  58. You can run at 320X200 resolution by adding a " -v0" 
  59. (space, minus sign, lowercase 'v' and numerical zero) after 
  60. "ES" in a DOS box. Your command line would look like
  61. this:     ES -v0

  66. V. BASIC GAME CONTROLS
  67.  
  68. JOYSTICK:
  69. If you wish to use a joystick, you must first calibrate it in 
  70. the Win '95 control panel. You will only have to do this once.
